We Make Cute Babies

The other morning, Bean, Bug and I were out coloring chalk on the front porch. A quick aside, coloring with the chalk has quickly become one of their favorite activities, which makes me happy, I like that they're being creative and I like that they are a fan of 'front porch sittin'.

Over Mother's Day we spent the weekend camping at Red River Gorge. We hiked up to the Natural Bridge and I nearly died.

Look What I Can Do!

I've had this pattern for a year and the yarn for nearly as long. It was the first project that I made for myself that was more then a hat.

It took me around 2 months to complete and after lots of frogging and consults at the Knit Nook, I was finally near completion.

Since the largest size in the pattern was still a little too small, I had to wing it on some aspects of the sizing, and aside from making the empire seam come down a little lower, I was pretty happy with the way it turned out!

Baby Madeline

One of the great things about the internet is how fast word travels and how, instantly, you can find out anything you need. Plus there's the connections and friends that you grow to know and care about.

When one of these people start to hurt, you find out about it pretty darn fast, and it utterly astounds me how fast people can rally. As a fellow mother of a premie baby, I am familiar with how bad things can get. While we were lucky and blessed enough to have an ultimately healthy baby, it never leaves the back of your mind. My heart aches for this family and what they'll have to endure while grieving and healing.

Heather Spohr
, lost her baby Maddie suddenly yesterday, then all the traffic causing her site to crash and her delightful (/sarcasm) hosting company BLUE HOST, decided to take her site offline, since it was a shared server it was causing other sites to crash. Immedietely people started contacting Blue Host to explain the situation and see if they could move it to a secure server. Their response was simply no. Gee her situation sucks, but there's nothing they could do. All they could do was quote their terms of service.

After getting nowhere over the phone, I tried the live chat on their site. Below is the transcript of what I learned.

Amazingly several people and companies have stepped up to generously host Heather's site until she can get things sorted out.

Whooooa

So it's been a while right? Whoopsie, been busy with the kids and job and building the photography business..

A is finally back from his MP and BOLC training. We just celebrated our 4th anniversary yesterday (does it feel waay longer to anyone else?) :-)

As only been home for 6 days so we're still getting used everyones schedules and needs. It's pretty chaotic, but he has been taking Mr. Bean to school in the mornings letting me get a few extra minutes in bed. We finally had the roofers start working on the house from the windstorm back in September. Hallelujah no more tarps!

I was back in New Orleans in January for work, which was nice. I like my job and I love New Orleans, and of course I flew back into Louisville for a delightful little ice storm, which left lots of people stuck and without power (but not us, apparently we were spared because of the horrific time we had back in September).

Here are some pictures! Yay!

Today Today Today!

I'm not going to pretend I'm a great writer and try to wax poetic about how freaking amazing today is. I've got the DVR going so I can be sure I don't miss it when picking Mr. Bean up from school, and so he and I can watch it together tonight.

I want him to be aware how awesome this is, if not now, then hopefully when he's older he'll be able to remember this, and tell his kids about this.

To look back on..

Another reason I took the Handmade Pledge

Yesterday morning, long before I was sitting and suffering in the denstist's chair, a man lost his life in a Black Friday stampede.

Please, read that again, I'll wait while you do......yes, you read that right. A Wal*Mart worker was TRAMPLED TO DEATH by rowdy shoppers. As he layed on the floor dying, more and more people continued to step on him, crushing him to death.

Oh wait, it gets even more messed up. People continued to shop and were even angry when told they had to leave because a man had been killed. It makes me feel ill, also makes me feel good about the fact that I have taken the Handmade Pledge

I have been working since early September on family members Christmas presents, it's taken a lot of time but I have thoroughly enjoyed it, almost therapeutic and with each gift I've worked on, I've prayed over it, including my hopes for the recipients wonderful 2009.

So if you're reading this, and I'm on your Christmas gift list this year, please take what I've said to heart and know how much I'd love something made with your hands and from your heart.

The Y is open, the pools are filled, I got my swimsuit and my goggles!

Going and getting my new suit and goggles made me realize just how much I missed swimming. The stress relief, the freedom, the exercise, the grace I feel in water. I am so excited to start again!!!!
